Oulton Park Autumn Duathlon 2017 Event Review

The Oulton Park Autumn Duathlon took place yesterday, Sunday 8th October 2017, at the famous Oulton Park Race track. This duathlon was an ETU European Championship Qualifier and the standard distance was part of the National Championships of Triathlon England, Hundreds of competitors and supporters made their way to the venue for this fantastic event. This event was literally traffic free racing at its very best!

Competitors had a choice of standard or sprint distance races - run 2 laps (8.61km) for the standard or one for the sprint, then cycle 9 or 5 exhilarating laps on your bike (21.55km or 38.76km), and then finish with one final run lap (both distances 4.307km).

In the sprint race Male Category, we saw Matt Barnes take the win in a time of 01:01:06, ahead of Nick Samuels who finished in 01:02:00 and Ed Auden in 01:02:03. For the Female Category Beccy Tipping claimed the women’s title in 01:10:21, with Helen Saghal coming second in 01:11:00 and Gill Mead securing third place in 01:11:23. 

In the standard distance race Male Category, Henry Irvine triumphed and took the win with a time of 1:37:23, ahead of Ian Lawton who finished 1:40:24 and Donald Brooks 1:40:45. For the Female Category Becky Lewis won the race with a time of 1:54:55 ahead of Zoe Chandler 1:57:24 and Rhian Roxburgh 1:59:34.
