Friends of Park Lane School chosen as Official Event Charity for Macclesfield Triathlon
Organisers of the Macclesfield Triathlon have announced 'Friends of Park Lane School' as the Official Event Charity for the 2013 event, which takes place next month.
Friends of Park Lane School are not only supplying volunteers and marshals for the event but have also been offering invaluable support to the event organiser's four year old son Eddy.
Race Director Simon Hill commented: "We are excited to bring the triathlon back to Macclesfield for the 6th time and we would like to encourage competitors to raise money for our Official Event Charity Friends of Park Lane School. We have got a very personal connection to the school with our four year old son Eddy being a pupil there. Eddy has just undergone brain surgery to remove a brain tumour that Eddy has had since birth. All of the staff at Park Lane School have been tremendously supportive both before and after the operation and have been doing a great job for Eddy, hence us choosing Friends of Park Lane School as the Official Event Charity for the 2013 Macclesfield Triathlon".
The Macclesfield Leisure Centre is a great venue and the fact that it is a pool based sprint distance race makes it accessible to triathletes of all levels. Anyone wishing to support Friends of Park Lane School can request a fundraising pack at the point of registration. Taking place on Sunday 18th August, the Macclesfield Triathlon is a popular pool based sprint distance triathlon aimed at both seasoned triathletes and novices, and it makes a great entry race for anyone wanting to give triathlon a try.

The competitors start in waves, with the first wave scheduled for 7 am. The Macclesfield Triathlon is also part of the Xtra Mile Events Tri Sprint Series but competitors can sign up for the race as a single event only.
