Eirias Middle Distance + Gets New Features
After a fantastic race this year, we are looking to improve the Eirias Middle+ and the Eirias Standard+ which will be on Saturday 9th August 2014
New Starley Bikes King and Queen of the Mountains
The fast becoming notorious climb out of Old Colwyn is now a segment on Strava. We shall be including a timed climb in the race this year with the new Starley Bikes King/Queen of the Mountains competition. The prizes will be awarded for the fastest male and female climbs up the 9.8km climb performed during the Eirias 2014.
The climb is 9.8km with an overall height distance of 278m, check out the elevation profile below.
The current Kings are Adam Thomson, Eirias Champ in 2012 and local legend, Arthur Connell. Isabelle Rees is the cuurent Queen of the Mountain.
You can practice as much as you want but the winning rides must be completed in the race.
Open Top Bus Tours of the Cycle Route
On the Friday evening before race day, we shall be offering free open top bus tours of the cycle route. Places will need to be pre-booked and will be 1 lap of the cycle course with a commentary and the opportunity to ask questions as we go round.
Special Community Supporter Prizes
Expect some great support along the route in 2014 as we shall be working closely to get the local communities to come out to support the race. Prizes will be awarded for the best supporting neighbourhood / school / club and triathletes will vote for the area that cheered them round the best.
